Possible Water Interruption's Today 6/29/2012

Utilities, Inc the parent company of Carolina Water Service is working in the neighborhood today on Harpers Inlet Dr repairing a water main leak. They are digging up a parking area to access the pipe. They say they are going to try to limit any service disruptions to as little time as possible. Water was already turned off to the neighborhood for a few minutes and was probably not noticeable to most home owners. The work should be done around 2pm this afternoon.

Apparently the board and Kuester knew about this work ahead of time, but to our knowledge no home owners were alerted, we do have a community email list which is a perfect way to communicate things just like this to the home owners, we are unsure why no notice was sent out, since this could cause interruptions in your water service, it would have been nice to know in advance.

  1. You REALLY need to get a life! Kuester was notified over 2 months ago about water laying stagnant in those parking spots. After repeated attempts to get Kuester to do something about it with no result a resident called the water company on Wednesday and they came out today. It's about time someone did something because Kuester can't be counted on. You are a pain though because you crab about the oddest crap and I know you will probably delete my comment which is fine because you are a coward. Get a life idiot!

  2. Why would I delete your post, it doesn't makes us look bad just yourself. It would seem as though you do not care that you pay the HOA and Kuester $125.00 per month of your hard earned money without question, however many of your neighbors do care, and we want to make sure we get our money's worth and hold the appropriate parties responsible. Now that Mercedes is out of business we the home owners are in complete control of the HOA for the first time since its inception in 2003. Now more than ever it is important for home owners to step up at the end of this year and elect a new board, look at our budget look at the management company that "Mercedes Homes" not the home owners hired to manage the neighborhood and see if we can do better. This blog is designed to keep home owners informed and to start discussions of the problems and potential solutions so in the long term this neighborhood can be the best it can.

Your comment highlights one of the common problems we are trying to address which is Kuester is sometimes non responsive, and again this year we have a chance to make changes and we need to cease this chance by uniting, communicating, participating, and most important voting!

  3. I would also like to add..I have been here about 4 years now. This is a nice place, I love the neighbors, no crime problems ( except the bastards that came thru and broke car mirrors about 3 winters ago) people are friendly, quiet but I must say Kuester is a complete waste of money. As an owner I am concerned about the HOA dues we pay and how the money is spent. If we as homeowners are now in control of the HOA I would be very interested in getting involved with the board or voluntering to be on the board. However, be advised, I am extremely conservative. I want this to be a nice place to live. And I am also concerned about the cracking of the asphalt in the parking lot and think we should look into sealing it before it gets worse each winter with freeze/thaw during the winter. If you walk around and look it is getting bad and will only get worse.

  4. By conservative I mean with a $. If we pay them to clean the dumpster area then they clean it or they will be fired and I will clean it and haul it to the inconvenience center myself and you can pay me a reduced rate. And this pressure washing thing. I'm still not sure my unit has ever been done in 4 years but every year they say it was done. I would think sidewalks being cleaned would make a great difference.

  5. I also agree the cracks should be sealed, by law Merceds Homes is responsible for those type of repairs they are responsible for turning everything over in good working condition, Mercedes Homes as a business closed, but they still own the development company for Harpers Mill, and the family that owned Mercedes Homes is already back in business as Mercedes Premier Homes, their is a local attorney who represents HOA's and has a proven record in cases like this getting the money to fix these things, but I do not believe Kuester will ever peruse this, they are in the real estate business ad work with many builders they would not want to be involved in such a lawsuit because other builders may not want to deal with them anymore.

Were running out of time to peruse these claims against the owners, since the development company is still in business, I believe the lawyer would go after them, and they would have to resurface the roads and repair anything else that is not in good working order as required by South Carolina Law.

I went thought this with another property I own, where the builder went under and the homeowners took over and they used the attorney and got good results, but they called a community meeting the day they took over and mapped out how to proceed, elected a new board a new management company and everything.

The current board who was selected by Mercedes, decided to not have a community meeting, not look at other management companies or have a specula elections they decided to continue as normal with no question asked,

  7. Unfortunately we have to wait until December for the annual meeting at that time there should be elections for new board members, in the meantime we need to get home owners interested at least showing up to the meeting and getting involved, everyones opinions count, long term residents have just become jaded, because up to know no one wanted to listen to any of the concerns or suggestions.
