Police Activity at the Pool

This afternoon several York County Deputies responded to the pool after receiving reports of several intoxicated person acting disorderly and harassing families at the pool. One home owner was there with their young children and when one of the intoxicated individuals took the child's ball and started swearing at the parent because their 6 year old child was splashing around in the pool getting water in his alcoholic drink. Another home owner with two small children said they do not go to the pool anymore on Saturday or Sunday afternoons, because the same group of individuals is always there and drinking heavily. Another home owner saw these same individuals at the pool today with a funnel that was being used with alcohol this afternoon.

Deputies gave the partiers a warning, and left. The HOA is going to have to address this if it continues every weekend, the pool is no longer a safe and enjoyable environment for home owners with young children.

  2. Wow seriously I'm a regular at the pool I have kids and have had lots of fun summers at the pool but I have to say josh u must be one of the party goers at the pool, I haven't been able to take my kids down there. It maybe a public pool but yall seriously need to be in a bar with the way yall are acting. I'm all for having a good time but what about the kids. If you don't want the kids to ruin your fun and get water in your beer find another pool to hang out at.

  3. Sylvia I believe you are correct the guilty ones are always so quick to try to cast blame on someone else. And Josh I know David only posted what was reported by more than one witness

    1. Josh no one is saying you or your friends are bad people but sometimes when we drink we do and say things we normally would not do, to parents with young kids a large group of people drinking can be a little intimidating, in this case to the point where some families just are avoiding the pool now, so maybe you could just be more aware of what is going on, and understand families with kids want to enjoy the pool just like you do. When the drinking get to a certain point it may be best just to take it to the house.

  5. 1) Yes the incident I posted I heard about from 3 separate witnesses.

    2) While going to the pool to see for myself what was going on, another homeowner who is a mother with several young children voiced concern about the level of drinking at the pool that has been going on for the last few weeks, every Saturday an Sunday and she said it is always the same group that was there this Sunday, she told me she will not take her kids there on the weekends anymore because of that crowd.

    3) It is posted no alcoholic drinks at the pool. If it was done in moderation no one would have complained, but obviously it has gotten out of control, according to several different homeowners.

    4) I could hear very loud voices from the pool halfway down Shady Pond Dr, I myself thought the noise alone was a little out of control, funny how quickly it quieted down when the Sheriff's Department was seen pulling into the neighborhood.

    5) How can someone speed, when they are driving on a private road with no posted speed limit signs? I have seen many people drive through the neighborhood faster than myself. If that bothers you so much go to a HOA meeting and get them to post speed limit signs and go through the regulations to get the Sheriff's Department to enforce it.

    6) The teenager in question was trespassing on my private property walking his dog, and he did not pick up after his dog after it used my yard as his bathroom, both of which are arrestable offenses in York County, it also turned out he does't live here, he lives in Forest Oaks and by his own admission he just came here to walk his dog he was not here visiting anyone, therefore trespassing in the neighborhood as a whole, if you have not noticed there is a sign at the entrance that states "Private Property No Trespassing.

    7) It is not question of being rich, it is a question of protecting my private property no matter how small it may be, I have the right to enjoy it without someone I do not know trespassing on it, and also walking there dog on my property, In South Carolina the Castle Law extends to both inside and outside of your home anywhere on the property that you own and your car.

    1. It's interesting that I heard about all this on Monday before I even read it on here and I heard almost exact opposite from what you are saying. That Sylvia's husband was the one throwing the ball closer and closer to the "drunks" which caused him to finally throw it over the fence. I personally have never had any problems with anyone in this complex, including them, except Sylvia and her husband who think themselves and their kids do no wrong and you sneaking around like some pervert or pedophile. Not to mention all the guests they had. Hell of alot more than 2 so call the cops on them too!!

    2. Unless that kid was in the small patch of grass in front or directly behind your house he was not on YOUR private property! All other areas are considered common areas! By the way if you ever walk up to me in the dumpster area like you have done to other residents I will immediately pepper spray you. You are not the neighborhood police and if your driving so fast through the neighborhood that you have to leave skip marks to stop (which you have done)you are going to fast you idiot! You are so concerned with the children's safety at the pool but obviously not on the streets.

    3. End units also own land on the side of their house, and if you pepper spray anyone for no reason you will be going to jail. And if you go to the dumpster and are dumping garbage outside the dumpster, I will let you know your violating the rules and report you to the HOA, if you feel that is the basis to pepper spray someone, than you can explain that to the judge.

Actually the dude your referring to wasn't drunk neither was I thank you since you know how much alcohol we can handle On second note it wouldn't have been an issue if ur husband would have told your your son and guests children not to throw the ball into a group of people that's rude Yea your husband had the right to go over and say something but when they guy said to your husband alright bro just go on so this didn't happen and your husband continues to run his jaws and leave it alone and I had to tell him to shut up and go on several time. 10. This is easily solved it is posted at the pool no one under the influence of alcohol or drugs allowed, the Sheriff's Department said as long as that is posted they can enforce it themselves, so if a homeowner sees people drinking at the pool or acting as though they are under the influence call the Sheriff's Department, trust me if they get more calls about it, they will not be as nice as they were last time, it is very easy to be arrested in South Carolina for Disorderly Conduct, or being under the influence in public, the pool is private property but is still considered a public space under that law, pretty much everywhere outside of your own home even in your yard, you can be considered being under the influence in public.

For those of you that do not already have it, the York County Non-Emergency Number is 803-628-3059!

    1. We use to have our own Security Guard at the pool, if the rules continue to be abused, I bet next year they send back out Security to sit at the pool everyday, just spending our HOA dues again, because people cannot be kind and courteous to their neighbors and respectful of the neighborhood as whole.

But I agree if people are at the pool drinking, being disorderly, or creating a lat of noise call the Sheriff's Department, I bet that will calm things down quick, it's just a shame we have to go that route.

    1. You say speeding, but show me one speed limit sign in this neighborhood? There are many homeowners in this neighborhood that I have seen driveing faster than me. Show me the radar that shows how fas tI am actually going? Oh wait you cannot.
